Teneice Durrant holds an MFA in creative writing and an MA in Literature. She is currently a candidate for a PhD in Psychology and has an affinity for what she likes to call “creative research.” She has 18 years of teaching experience, poetry publications including four chapbooks and the full-length, Glass Corset (2019), and more than 15 years as an editor and publisher of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.
My teaching philosophy is shaped by years of teaching under-served communities. I endeavor to meet my students where they are, identify interests and passions, and cultivate a sense of confidence through personalized attention and gentle guidance. Further, I believe personal experiences are universal, and writing to the truest self is how we connect to each other and the world around us. If writing is breathing out, reading is breathing in. One cannot be a writer without being a reader.
