Writing Groups

Our writers work one-on-one with Center mentors in generative, manuscript development, and self-publishing sessions, but they also have access to several free opportunities for group work.

Monthly community Zooms

On the third Wednesday of each month, we meet on Zoom for a share session. Participants have a chance to read a short piece of writing and ask for feedback from the rest of the group, or to read a brief published piece for discussion. All former and current Center writers receive a Zoom invitation by email a week prior to that month's Zoom. Our Zooms are small, friendly, warm, and supportive, and serve as great practice for reading your work aloud, as well as both giving and receiving strengths-based feedback.

Silent write-ins

For the introverts, the hyper-focused, or the shy writers out there, Shawna Ayoub hosts biweekly silent write-ins, a collaboration between the Center Your Writing and Survive Your Story. You need to register (free) to join, but you can drop in or out at any point to write or work in quiet community. A prompt will be offered. Survive Your Story paid subscribers have the option of submitting prompt-based writing for feedback to Shawna within one week of each session. Our write-ins are a judgment-free zone.
