Teneice Durrant, creator of Tenth Fox Tarot, will mark each full moon with a tarot reading, ritual for releasing creative blocks, and writing exercise. Go ‘buck wild’ in July, writers!
Friday’s full moon is in Aquarius and is called the Buck Moon because this time of year in North America, you can see maturing bucks display their growing antlers. This is also a time to let your hair down—to go buck wild, as they say.
Aquarians operate on another level, in realms unseen by mere mortals. Their actions may not make sense to you, but they often see how their lives fit into a larger picture.
This month, writers, is the time to release any constraints holding you or your character back. To get there, we’re going to play a game of Never Have I Ever.
I want you to write down three actions that you would never ever in a million years do:
- Something you would never do by yourself
- Something you would never do with other people
- A place you would never go.
Next, write why you would never do those things. It can be a short description like, “It’s illegal,” or a longer explanation that details a fear or other cultural restraint, such as, “My parents would disown me.”
Reflect on these constraints a bit. Then, take a deep breath and say out loud, “I release the cultural, social, and emotional restrictions imposed on these activities.”
Guided writing exercise
Now, you might re-write each scenario where you or a character does exactly what you said you would never do. Do not be constrained by right or wrong! Release any and all parameters. If you think, Oh, my character can’t do that, write that character doing exactly that thing. Write it with as many sensory details as possible.
Bend laws of time and gravity.
Think outside of our rigidly defined legal systems.
Shed any restriction to the full expression of your character.
Let go of any limiting beliefs that say, There isn’t enough.
I’ll be back next month with a video, but until then, you can check out my timeless tarot readings at anchor.fm/tenthfox for more guidance and inspiration.
