Teneice Durrant, creator of Tarot with Ten, will mark each full moon with a tarot reading, ritual for releasing creative blocks, and writing exercise. Writers, dive deep and put in the work.

Flower Moon

The full moon for May 2022 is the Flower Moon in the sign of Scorpio, and it's a super blood moon that also features a lunar eclipse.

Eclipses tend to reveal what needs to be healed, resolved, or dismissed, so this month, you may feel an extra push to abandon projects, walk away, or give up. Because we have both an eclipse and a full moon together, there's a double energy of release.

The important thing to remember is that you can't just walk away and expect that these things are now resolved.

There's no ghosting these issues that you have, so unless you want to be right back here at the next eclipse, you'll need to really focus on what wounds need healed, what issues need to be resolved, what text messages need to be deleted. This is a time for a deep dive and a deep healing. You don't need a conversation with another person to get closure; you need to process from the point of your own experience. The only thing that you can control is your reaction to a situation.

The ritual that I have for today may sound a bit redundant but it is a ritual for releasing your fear of ending something, whether that's a job, a relationship, or friendship. Perhaps there is a fixed point in your past that you aren't able to let go of because it has become a part of your identity. It's time to free up that space for new experiences and new journeys.

Since Scorpio is a water sign, I'm going to describe a water bath ritual for the healing and opening of the heart chakra. Meditating on the heart chakra will heal those deep personal wounds and fill in the space that the past experience was filling. This ritual is best done before bedtime.

Ritual exercise

Step one: Gather any green or pink crystals or gemstones that you may have. Rose quartz and jade are two very popular ones.  Clear their energy (set them on a selenite crystal, run them under water, or pass them several times over a candle flame) and place them in the bathtub.

Step two: Gather white, pink, or green candles and carefully place them around your tub. You can light them now or after you get into the tub.

Step Three: Turn on the water and mix in epsom salts while the tub is filling. If you'd like to include essential oils, rose and lemon balm are perfect for this ritual, both cleansing and soothing. Once you fill the tub as high as it can be filled so that you can be completely immersed, add a few drops of essential oil.

Step four: Carefully immerse yourself in the water. Begin breathing slowly and deeply, on the exhale releasing anything but love. Place one hand on your heart chakra and imagine that it is a glowing ball of light expanding with every breath, filling you with warmth and kindness. Let all of the tension flow out of your body with your exhalations. Release the fear of releasing fear.

When you are finished (and blown out your candles), dress in something green or pink if you have it.  Journal about your experience before drifting off to sleep, and then again when you wake up.

A tarot writing exercise

The tarot writing prompt for this month is the World card and the Eight of Pentacles.

Very clearly and concisely, this message says that the world is available to you. Not a world that you know now, but an ascended world where the issues and problems that occupied our thoughts and our bodies are released. They're insignificant because there's a much bigger picture to see, a much bigger energy to tap into.

The only way we access this place of release and evolution is to put in the work. The Eight of Pentacles is putting in the work. There's no way up but through. You can't become a master carpenter without learning how to build a birdhouse. There's no cheat code; there's no shortcut. The way out is through.

So if you are writing some fiction and your character needs to achieve something, don't take the easy route. Make your character put in the effort. Sure, they might have some natural ability, but Michael Jordan still needed to practice every day. Sit down and write the emotional and literal truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth of your character or yourself. Do the hard thing. Write it out.
