Bookings: Guided self-publishing for short manuscripts

Proof, publish, and platform a short collection of poetry, fiction, or creative nonfiction in six weeks.

If publishing a book is one of your goals as a writer, but you’re disenchanted by the thought of going through the traditional publishing process–query letters, agents, submissions, and so much waiting–then it might be time to take matters into your own hands and self-publish.

But you don’t have to do it alone, or for the thousands of dollars that some corporate self-publishing “houses” charge. At the Center, several of our teachers have been both chapbook publishers and authors with 10+ years of experience proofing, line and copy editing, ordering, structuring, formatting, producing, and promoting small-press books across multiple genres, for writers with a wide spectrum of goals for their published work. We can help you get your book to the finish line.

Registration for a Bookings session gets you the following:

  • A 1:1 manuscript workshop with an experienced writer-publisher who will commit to making your book the best it can be;
  • a professionally edited, self-published e-book with cover art (print-ready, if you choose to have copies made);
  • a tutorial on self-promotion, including starting an author site, Substack, or email newsletter; using social media effectively; planning readings or author events; and more, with a jump-start on our blog, email, and social platforms when you’re ready;
  • and timeless guidance on shaping a manuscript that you can bring to your next project.

Book us to bring your book into being!

*Note: This is not a generative workshop. We’re asking writers to bring 32-48 pages of poetry or linked stories/essays they’ve taken beyond first drafts, plus an organizing concept for the book. Please reach out to sfleegal@creativewritingcenter.com with a sample of up to five pages for a free consultation prior to registration.
