Letter from the director: June 2018
School is NOT out for the summer, if you’re a student at the Center for Creative Writing! We just started up a brand new session of our five-week online writing courses and students and teachers alike are flexing our creative muscles.
Monthly photo prompt writing contest for email list subscribers!
If you aren’t currently enrolled but want to write with us, we are also launching a new community-building project through our email list. Every first of the month, I will conclude my letter from the director with a photo. Using this photo as a prompt, subscribers are invited to participate in our in-list writing challenge to see who can create the strongest response in under 500 words. The winning submission will be featured in the first email of the following month, published along with the next month’s photo prompt. Only email list subscribers can participate and will see each month’s selection, so sign up if you want to join us!
Let’s have some summery fun with the first photo, shall we?
What kind of trees are those? Whose bike is that? Where in the world are we here? Did children just leap through those sprinklers and off the edges of this image? Where does your imagination take you, in under 500 words? Submit your response by email before noon June 30 and look for Stacia’s selection in an email July 1.
Happy summer, happy writing,
Stacia M. Fleegal, Director
